PART 2:  -  Let’s get down to business!

We have worked out a couple of different pricing options for you.

About our payment:

No risk

If swing dancing is your hobby and you spend your free time to grow your swing dance community, you might find it hard to take on the economical risks and the legal “boring” stuff. We can take care of that for you. We will need your help to find a suitable location and being to on place spokes-person for this event. Other than that, we can help you or completely support you with the online work = homepage, emails, registrations etc. We will cover for the expenses such as traveling, room rent, taxes and music equipment etc. In exchange we will also take on all the economical benefits.

Minimum + Fifty-fifty

The first goal is to cover all expenses (room rent, travel costs, etc.) plus a minimum hourly salary per teacher. After that, we split what’s left 50% (SwingStep) / 50% (you). This way it’s low risk for you as the organizer and everyone’s work is compensated. The SwingStep team consist of 4 teaching couples who are ready to hold workshops and shows for you. We have teachers for all kind of budgets. Ali&Katja has been teaching professionally for couple of years and are frequently teaching at large international workshops. Their minimum prices range from 100-140 Euro/hour for the couple. Then we have teachers that has been trained by Ali&Katja to teach high quality classes. Their minimum hourly rate is 50-100 Euro/hour for each couple.

Fixed rate

If you are organizing a workshop with several teaching couples from different countries, a percentage deal is not always ideal. Or, you have a business and you want to fix your expenses so that you can calculate your possible profit. Then perhaps a fixed price is most suitable for you. Also here, we have teachers for all kind of budgets. Ali&Katja has been teaching professionally for couple of years and are frequently teaching at large international workshops. Their fixed prices range from 150-220 Euro/hour for the couple. Then we have teachers that has been trained by Ali&Katja to teach high quality classes. Their hourly rate is 100 – 140 Euro/hour for each couple.

The price depends on the size of the event and the number of hours we teach. Furthermore, our traveling, hosting and food costs are covered by the organizer.

QUESTION: Can I hire more than one teaching couple?

ANSWER: Absolutely! In fact, if we have multiple level workshops with several couples we can create a smooth experience allowing the students to experience classes with consistent terminology and material that builds up on each other. Ideal for giving the dancers the best learning opportunity.

How we keep our expenses low

We enjoy private hosting at your or a local dancer’s place the most. Our favorite means of transportation is our car. As it’s fuel-efficient, our traveling costs rarely go above 140-200 Euro. We also live only 30min from Frankfurt international airport and 1.5h from Frankfurt-Hahn’s Ryanair airport, which makes air travel easy and quite cheap.

Workshop length

The minimum number of hours we teach depends on how far we have to travel and how many days we are away from our local scene. Preferably, we teach 8-10 hours at a two-day workshop; 3-6 hours at a one day workshop.

PART 3: Getting Students to your classes

This is what we recommend you to charge for our workshops:

How much should I charge for the workshop? This is one of the most difficult questions an organizer has to answer. It all depends on your expenses, room capacity and how many potential students you have. We typically plan to get around 40 students in each class. We have our best experiences in organizing when we follow certain guidelines in pricing and advertising:

1. Price the workshop HIGHER than workshops usually cost in your region, then give incentives to dancers who commit early and to dancers who make an effort to spread the workshop by registering in groups.
2. Make the first announcement 3 months ahead of time. This way people have the time to create the group sizes that make this workshop very cheap. The idea is that if many people come, you don’t have to charge as much.

Note that with the discounts, dancers don’t pay more for this workshop than for a regular-priced workshop, but they understand that the real value for a workshop with Ali&Katja is higher than a regular workshop.

Here is an example for a 2 x 3 hour workshop:

Students of this workshop could choose between two different tracks, or do both. The full price for each track is 60 €. Two types of discounts are available:

Individual registration – individual discounts based on how early you register. Example: If you are among the first 2 Leaders or 2 Followers to register, you can get the workshop for only 35 €!

Group registration – get together with your friends and create a group. The idea is simple: the larger the group, the lower the price! Find a group name and mention it in your registration.

Additional discounts for individual registration:

Sign up for both tracks and get another 3 € discount/person on the final workshop price!

Sign up with a partner and get another 3 € discount/Person on the final workshop price!

And here’s an example for a full weekend workshop:

The full price for the entire weekend is 120 €. Again, both types of discounts are available:

Individual registration – individual discounts based on how early you register. Example: If you are among the first 2 Leaders or 2 Followers to register, you can get the workshop for only 80 €!

Group registration – get together with your friends and create a group. The idea is simple: the larger the group = the lower the price! Find a group name and mention it in your registration.

Additional discounts for individual registration:
